ARTIST'S STATMENT

Tony Zinn is an Iowa City native who merges his training and experience in the kitchens of Chicago-based restaurants with his fascination for woodworking and repurposed materials.

His furniture incorporates new and reclaimed woods along with found items such as glass, slate, and metal. These textures and patterns are key players in his modern, contemporary and mid-century furniture designs. Zinn respects the concept of each piece of wood having the possibility of more than one life and function. This drives him to combine repurposed woods with new materials. In doing so, his highly functional pieces of contemporary furniture contain a conscience-driven “green” element.

Zinn has supplied tables and accessories for the Chicago area restaurant community as well as for local clients. He was recently commissioned to create a communion table for the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and has participated in the Iowa City Parade of Homes.
