ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Nostalgia is one of the key feelings that Iowa artist Susan Reinier hopes to evoke when viewing her works.  She seeks to find a moment of shared sentimentality with her viewers.  

 

Susan paints on gessobord panels in oils, working with thin layers, and reserving thicker layers for the areas of light and focus.  Her oil paintings most often focus on still life works that are brought to life with antiques or well-loved items mixed with organic components.  The play of light and shadow combined with reflective surfaces create details of interest and inspiration.  

 

Susan’s works have been part of exhibitions at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, as well as the Figge Museum.
