Artist's Statement

Bethany Rusen is the creative force behind Stanley Chester & Albert. Rusen graduated with a BFA from Tyler School of Art in 2003 and earned her MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 2010.

She specializes in unique, durable ceramic vessels that complement a variety of domestic settings. Each piece is hand thrown on the potter's wheel using white stoneware, fired, glazed and finished with found and original imagery. SC&A strives to make our work accessible to a diverse audience so that everyone can own something beautiful and handmade.

Stanley, Chester and Albert Jesikiewicz were three brothers growing up in the anthracite coal region of Northeast Pennsylvania. Albert was my grandfather, a machinist who worked for Westinghouse. I named my company after them because they knew the importance of hard work and the value of a well made object. I work to make them proud every day.
