Originally from Kingston, NY, in the Hudson Valley, Kenneth Pillsworth has called the Vineyard home for more than 25 years.
Kenneth Pillsworth’s interest in the arts began very early on. Kenneth began his very first jewelry apprenticeship with renowned jeweler, William Scholl, in 1987. Kenneth’s time with William would set the precedent for his interests and expectations for this medium. It was this experience in hindsight that would lay the foundation for Kenneth’s career as a jeweler.
In the fall of 1990 Kenneth attended SUNY New Paltz with a concentration in painting. Under the recommendation of William Scholl, Kenneth began working with Jeffrey Allen Jewelers part time while attending classes. During summer breaks Kenneth lived and worked on Martha’s Vineyard.
In the summer of 1992 Kenneth began his apprenticeship on Martha's Vineyard, with jewelers Paul D’Olympia and Richard Hamilton. It wasn’t long before Kenneth made the commitment to become a jeweler himself. Kenneth’s ability to take a piece of something from each mentor, has given him a well rounded foundation from which to build his own career and ideas.
Kenneth started his own business in 1995 and was one of the original exhibiting artists at the Vineyard Artisan's Festivals on Martha's Vineyard. In 1996 Kenneth Pillsworth and three other jewelers formed the Edgartown Jewelers Studio in Edgartown, MA on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Kenneth continued to share space until 1998 when he decided to create his own studio in his home.
Kenneth’s work blends contemporary design with classic aesthetics. Combining unconventional materials such as titanium and niobium with silver, gold and unique one-of-a-kind gemstones has become his signature. Always open for custom work, Kenneth has worked closely with many clients to creating lasting heirlooms that will bring joy to those who wear his pieces for many years to come.
